Post 4: What are some of your favourite hobbies / pastimes?

Dear all, for today's post you have to talk about some of your favourite hobbies / pastimes. If you have any doubts about the difference between these two concepts check out this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaImfgb37vA

Try to include the following pieces of information on your posts:
  • what it is/ they are
  • why you like it / them
  • when your passion for it / them began
  • How often you spend time on it /them
  • other important details you deem necessary to write about.

This time a quality post should have no less than 140 words. And remember to leave comments on three of your classmates' posts and one on mine.

A Bloody Mantra!

I've noticed that I tend to have fewer and fewer hobbies as I grow older. Say I'm fast becoming a sort of minimalist without consciously wanting to be such. There is no doubt that having a hobby is investing a lot of time and money in it. So, okay, you have to keep it humble if you don´t have much of any of them.

About 10 years ago, I was very into playing the guitar. I'm not saying that my hobby was collecting guitars. No way! I loved to play the guitar. I had a sort of 'velvet-underground' band with a friend of mine. We spent long hours playing non-melodic songs. We really believed that we were going to reinvent the wheel. Unfortunately, we were starting to lose interest in our project as we noticed we needed to focus on making a living instead of living a dream. I haven't played the guitar since then. All my guitars are completely forgotten somewhere in a gloomy corner of  my house.

Let's move on...

I don't play my favourite musical instrument anymore, but it doesn't mean that I don't love music. I collect Cds. I've been collecting CDs since my parents gave me a stereo system and my first CD (The Beatles' Blue Album) as gifts back in 1999 -Now I have around 300 CDs by the time of writing this post. The last one I bought was Kamasi Washington's The Epic two months ago. I was in love with that stereo because it had a very powerful sound and quality. I can't help myself listening to my favourite music very loudly. I just believe that music should be listened out loud because musical instruments are really loud. It's a unique experience. I can't do anything else when I'm listening to music. I don't even answer the phone or eat something when I'm listening to my music. I have a compulsive obsession sticked to it.

Another hobby I have is reading. But I think it's turning into a pastime because I stopped collecting  books since I stopped having a steady job. I just have to control myself. Fun fact: my best friend (the same one of the band) and I are planning to start up our own publishing company. I'm currently working on the translation into Spanish of  'On Murder, Considered as one  of the Fine Arts' by Thomas de Quincey. Yeeeeees! MURDER... hihihihi. However, I've got held up because of time and money constraints. Time and money: a bloody mantra!

Well, so I think this is the best chance I have to tell you about it. I liked writing poems at school, but I never dared go a step further. So, I just used to write some verses on notepads that no one would ever read or know about, except the girlfriend I had at that time. The thing is that this girlfriend and I used to attend poetry workshop
